In this place, in September 1943, 26 members of youth organization were executed.
They operated in Nizhyn, which was occupied by German troops in 1942-1943 Ya.P. Batiuk was their leader. They distributed leaflets, organized sabotage, collected and transmitted operational information to the headquarters of the partisan association "For the Motherland". In August 1943, the organization was uncovered. The leader and most of the underground members were arrested and shot a week before the city was liberated.
After liberating of the city from invaders (September 15, 1943), the bodies of the executed people were reburied with all military honors at the Central (Trinity) cemetery.
